My case don't have the best airflow either so I needed this cooler. Haha yeah that almost constant fan spin up and down was doing my head in at first too but now it's so silent that the other day someone came over and I was sitting at the PC and he put his head right next to the machine asking if it was turned on. My only complain now is that the 3 front Silent Wing 3 120mm fans make a low frequency rumble oscillating noise thing above 800 rpm but I have them at 700 rpm and it doesn't do it but its nontheless anoying that if I need it to go above that it does this subtle rumble noise. I assume the heatsink is so big that it quickly cools those fast boost peaks before fans need to start going fast. So far I haven't played modern games but I ran Cinebench test and not even that made it above 65C, only in a test it made 68C for a split second but didnt trigger fans. Yeah when I bought it and mounted it I was freaking out at how annoying the fans triggered for mundane stuff was when I realized I could set a flat curve that stays to inaudible levels of around 650-700 rpm then start kicking more speed beyond 65Cº. I have a ton of background processes though so it could be that affecting me rather than monitoring software. With Hyper 212 Evo and stock cooler I could clearly hear the fan speed up and down frequently but with the new cooler I can hardly hear my PC at all unless there is a significant load but I suspect the temps still go up and down a bit both with and without monitoring running. On desktop I see with monitoring software I see temps rising to maybe 64 o or so and drop down again to below 60 o. I don't know what CPU you have but my Ryzen 5 3600x has TJMax at 95 o and during stress testing it reaches 72 o +/- depending on ambient. Temperature is what kills CPUs apart from overvolting them. If you want to run with OHM it shouldn't be a problem.

Now running the Dark Rock 4 CPU cooler I don't notice anything when it comes to fan RPM.Įven so, your temps are fine. Using only CPU-Z I saw clock speeds go down. Regardless when I was on my old CM Hyper 212 Evo cooler (I had a Corsair ML 12 fan on it) I could hear the fan going faster with HW Info running than without, also with it running I saw constant clock speeds of 4,2-4,3 GHz. I tried to google for it and the search reminded me that there should be BIOS updates out to address this. The CPU temp spikes but stays below 50 unless im opening stuff and doing some browsing very fast across reddit or youtube but doesnt go above peaks of 63 or so and they are mega fast and cools down again, but how would you even know about this if you can't monitor temps properly because you don't know if the program is causing peaks or something else?ĪMD made a statement on this. Really? damn, I have OpenHardwareMonitor opened because I think its cool to have CPU and GPU temps on the tray.
